The MMA Sport Federation- Team USA took on Team Australia and the Pan Pacific Warriors. With a short under card fight, Will Alfaro of Missouri took on Kevin Maloy of Crete, Illinois. Will Alfaro in control of this most of this bout, finished Maloy off at 2:37 of round number 1 with a sweet armbar from the mount.
Then Team USA vs. Team Pan Pacific began with Jay Powell (USA) landing a devastating spinning backfist on Romel Luistro in just over a minute of the 1st round. What a way to start the festivities for Team USA.
Fireworks continued for Team USA in the next fight, which saw Steve Burton KO Vik Grujic early in the 2nd round. Huge right hand from Burton ended the night for Grujic.
The third fight had Jordan “Iron Man” Mitchell against Jaryd Terkelsen. Mitchell has always been a knockout specialist and the crowd wanted to see something explosive. Mitchell came out with a game plan, but after about 20 seconds, he looked at his watch and decided enough was enough. He started throwing bombs and before the crowd knew what was up, the fight was over with Mitchell Knocking out Terkelsen and putting the crowd into a Team USA frenzy!
In the final USA vs Pan Pacific fight, the heavyweights stepped in. Gregg Van de Creek (USA) got a quick take down of Fred Tere Pita (PP), gained side control and got the submission victory via choke. Team USA took all 4 fights in a sweet display of exciting finishes.
Next up was Team USA vs. Team Australia and Peter Day (AUS) vs. Darnell Hicks (USA). Hicks came out unloading a barrage of punches. Unfortunately, he began to tire and after one mistake found himself on the ground in an arm bar. Nice recovery by the Australian, Day, for the submission win.
Next up was the newest team member of Team USA, Frank Sloan (USA) taking on Joey Luciano (AUS) probably the Fight of the Night, round one saw some outstanding back-and-forth action, round 2 was even better. More fast paced striking from both fighters. The fight ended up going to the ground and Sloan started the "ground and pound" it wasn't long until veteran referee Scott Fischer had to step in. Very exciting fight and a big win for Sloan. Mark Coleman must have loved the Ground and Pound!
